Residents’ Council BEA Mannheim

TheResidents’ Council, founded in November 2016, serves as an instrument to represent the interests of the residents of Benjamin Franklin Village, as well as to suggest measures to improve the situation in the camp. The elected representatives from the various countries of origin receive professional coaching in communication, conflict resolution and assertiveness. They voice the problems, interests and wishes of the residents to the regional council, the operator of the facility and the security services of the camp. Conversely, the representatives inform residents about new developments and official announcements, thereby acting as a bridge between both parties.

The members of the residents’ council hold weekly meetings.

Responsibilities of the Residents’ Council Benjamin Franklin Village: “to communicate questions, suggestions and complaints from the camp residents to the management level, to discuss these with the various bodies managing the camp, and to communicate solutions and advice to the camp residents.”

An article (in German) about the residents’ council can be found in the association magazine “Der Paritätische” (Issue 2/2017)
